Faber interim colōniam in Britanniam Novam dēdūcere parābat, brevīque cum mīlitibus ac nautīs sēdecim ad Americam versus[1] profectus est. Cum autem mare trānsīret, subitō tempestās magna est coorta, ac nāvēs fluctibus paene frāctae sunt; quārē domum redīre coāctus est.

Sed paulō post[2] cum ūnā nāve parvā iterum profectus[3], multōs diēs ad Americam versus fēlīciter nāvigāvit. Tum, pīrātīs procul vīsīs, frūstrā effugere cōnātus est. Pīrātae tamen inventī sunt mīlitēs esse[4], quōs ipse ōlim in Eurōpā[5] dūxerat; quī igitur ducem suum veterem volēbant sēcum nāvigāre, is autem ad Americam cursum tenēre māluit. Sed paucīs post diēbus Gallī quīdam, quī per maria omnia praedam quaerēbant, eius nāvem cēpērunt, ipsumque suam nāvem longam coēgērunt cōnscendere. Ibi cum morārētur[6], eius nautae, quī domum redīre iam diū[7] volēbant, clam dedērunt vēla[8], incolumēsque[9] in Britanniam pervēnērunt. Ubi[10] tamen poenās posteā dedērunt cum dēmum redīsset Faber, quī cum Gallīs diū nāvigāre coāctus erat. Numquam posteā ille colōniam dēdūcere cōnātus est.
